News of PS3 Slim have been circulating the web, and now the rumors are confirmed. PS3 Slim are now available for pre-order at a lowered price at Kmart.com, Amazon.com and Sears.com.

Today, gamers woke up to some happy news: currently, two retailers have the PS3 Slim listed for pre-order - so apparently, all those rumors were true (remember the PSP Go?). The even better news? The infamous price drop rumor has also finally come to fruition: you can pre-order one of these new units for $299 at either Kmart.com or Sears.com. The listed release date is only a few days away: August 24.

Both Sears and K-mart prominently display a similar banner proclaiming a "New, Exciting PS3," although neither listing has a picture or description of the new machines. However, many expect Sony to make an official reveal of the highly anticipated PS3 model later today at 12:30 EST.

This news comes after months of speculation and a recent rash of European sites advertising current model PS3s at discounted rates of $100 or more. No other US sites seem to have the PS3 listed as of yet, although this may change when Sony makes their announcement today.
