Looks like the Call of Duty fanboys will have to wait a bit longer to play their new game, with no beta coming. It also appears that Microsoft is taking a page out of Sony's book with the whole untested release thing, so CoD fans may have to wait even longer to play their game bug-free.

Activision has told CVG that there will be no multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The last Inifinity Ward developed Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, had a popular public beta released in advance of the game's sale date.

For those looking forward to the new multiplayer features in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it looks like you'll have to wait until the game hits store shelves on November 10.

No company releases things untested. In games design there are whole teams devoted to testing games. If Microsoft don't test their games before they release them then they have done a pretty good job of them.

I was referring to the PS3, which was released with nearly no Beta-testing.

You mean no PUBLIC testing. Of course they did in house testing.

Beta testing is public by definition. Alpha testing is the in-house testing.

Lawl. With the jacked up price, and now no beta, either this game is gonna be groundbreaking, or lick nuts.

For once, I kind of agree with you. It's like Activision is doing everything in their power to kill all hope of selling this game.

Falling back on their "They'll buy it because they're our fans" strategy will only serve to alienate the fanbase.

Maybe it's a test. Better to experiment with these things on a game that WILL sell.

Ha, so now we have to pay $100 to know if it's broken or not. GG Activision.

Dudes, stop over-reacting. There's just gonna be no PUBLIC beta. 402 has stated there are gonna be loads of in-house and private betas for partners and IW, so don't kill yourself JUST yet.

It doesn't matter.. Public Beta is the most important phase these days. Yes behind the scenes hundreds test the single player campaign, they play online and see if it works, but essentially Public Beta is the stress test. If the servers collapse when 14,000 people log in to play a round of Capture Point then they need to know that. How are they gonna know their servers cannot cope? Are they gonna line up 14,000+ internal testers, give them a console of their own and test it under simulated online conditions? No as that is our job as the Public.

Well i'm pretty sure they'd have that sorted and learnt from CoD4, the only thing people are worried about are glitches and Exploits, not servers. tbh.
