Final Fantasy XIV May Not be Exclusive Afterall

Back at E3 2009, Jack Tretton announced Final Fantasy 14 would be a PS3 exclusive. It turns out, this isn't entirely true. Final Fantasy 14 will be a times exclusive for the PS3, and it may or may not come to the Xbox 360.

Producer Hiromichi Tanaka from Square Enix had this to say:

“During the press conference, the ‘launch timing’ words were cut out of the comments, so the launch timing is going to be exclusive to PlayStation 3 as a console.

That doesn’t mean that we’re not going to have a 360 [version] in the future, but at the launch timing, yes, it’s going to be Windows and PS3 only.”

Seeing as how Square Enix brought Final Fantasy 13 to the Xbox 360, bringing Final Fantasy 14 over may be likely.

    Eh, would it matter? MMO FF's should be separate from the numbered series, like Crystal Chronicles (which is awesome, mind you). The only way I'll show interest in this game is if they have no P2P.

    I would only be happy if they released it for the 360 too. I dislike the console, but it would add a lot of players. But I do also like that it will be a timed exclusive for the PS3 and PC.

      yes, MMO's work better the more people that play, but would PS3 and 360 players be playing on the same server?

        Yes, that's how it works in FFXI. All players, regardless of region and console, play on the same servers. And they've said that's how it's going to be.

    It was obvious this would be timed exclusive, probably give it about 3months till it's release on 360.

    We kind of knew this the day they announced it. The only reason we thought it was exclusive is because Jack Tretton misguidedly said it was during the Sony E3 conference.

      Well he was hardly gonna say it was just a timed exclusive in front of hundreds of members of press and thousands of Sony fans watching online, was he?

    Aaaaand I still won't buy it.

    Since I quit WoW, the only MMO I'm looking forward to is The Old Republic.

    I bet he didn't really want to take the shine off the PS3 fans. Woul haave been a bummer for the conference.

      yea, ps3 fans would have been a little down, but not that much, since not that many play Final Fantasy MMO's. I think learning that 13 was going to be multiplatform was a much bigger dissapointment. Especially if the rumors that the PS3 graphics got downgraded in the process are true.

    look i dont know much about how games are made but to me it seems that the more discs= better graphics so 360 can match ps3 graphic.
    cause its all about memory i think or some shit like that correct me if Im wrong PLz!!
