Final Fantasy Turns 20

Final Fantasy moogles and cosplayers, time to round up your chocobos and head over to San Francisco.

On June 26, Square Enix will be hosting a party at the Playstation store in the Metreon Center to celebrate 20 years of world’s most popular and successful RPG franchise. If you’re planning to attend, make (or cast) haste, as the first hundred attendees will be able to grab exclusive Final Fantasy goodies from Square Enix.

If you live in San Francisco and are a Final Fantasy fan, June 26th is your lucky day. Square Enix will be throwing a party at the PlayStation store at the Metreon Center downtown to celebrate twenty years of the biggest RPG phenomenon in gaming's history. While it may be no Square Enix party, the first hundred peeps through the door will score exclusive FF swag, so you really can't complain.

Final Fantasy I and II revamps for the PSP will be on display as well to check out, not to mention possible glimpses of cosplayers always looking for an excuse to suit up as Cloud. Get your butt out there and send us some pics, people.

    If I was within driving distance of that I would be there in a heartbeat, I was at DigitalLife last year, and stocked up on as much promos and free stuff I could carry.

    Didn't know Final Fantasy was that old, but then again, I played games like Final Fantasy 1 like 14-15 years ago. Good thing they lasted so long and are still great games.

    I heard they were going to be having an anniversary soon from my brother. It's hard to believe it's been around that long and I wish them further success.

    Ah cool, the Final Fantasy series has certainly come a long way and still stands strong with the massive fanbase and great upcoming games. Happy birthday!

    Where's my 20 year anniversary gift? It's the consumers that should be getting the praise. If it wasn't for us the series would never have had a second game.

    I think Final Fantasy has come a long way though, and it totally deserves this anniversary thingy.

    Thats actually to long for a game! with being in the UK, highly unlikely i will be there, unless someone wants to pay for flight & accommadation

    20 years??? Jesus, I'm sure it's younger than that. I thought the first one came out in the mid 90s.
