Sony has started a full scale advertising campaign in Japan, to push the PS3 Slim. According to Japanese retailers, Sony is shipping 200,000 units to retailers on day one. Sony may be doing all this, as an attempt to lessen the gap between the PS3 and Wii install base. This may also be part of a global ad campaign, that has not yet started in Europe or the US. Either way, it appears Sony has high hopes for its slimmer console.

Well done Sony now SCEA and SCEE need to learn for SCEJ and start advertising the Slim a lot. Yes most gamers know about it and a fair few want it but there are casuals sat at home with a PS2 wanting something more. The PS3 Slim will give them that, it will give them the PS2 controls they love with next generation graphics that they need. Get advertising!

yes, especially since this is aimed at Xbox users, who normally wouldn't follow ps3 news, and might not know hot cheap it is now.
