8GBs of memory, 30+ hours of battery, faster, and revised D-pad layout...Sounds like a winner. That D-pad has given me many headaches with a ninja rope on Worms Armageddon. If only we had some real confirmation that they weren't rumors.

The rumors of a redesigned PSP have been circulating for months, but Sony hasn't confirmed any details. However, Kotaku claims to have solidified many of those details thanks to "sources close to Sony."

Apparently, there are many changes for this sleek new PSP, but it still retains the same hardware. The system will be slimmer than before, featuring a snazzy new LED screen that takes up less space. Furthermore, thanks to the LED, the battery life of the portable increases significantly (perhaps four times longer). As for the UMD drive, that'll stick around, but it should be a faster version that will enable quicker load times. The button layout - which has suffered from criticism - have been revamped, and the D-pad is now more like a PS3 pad, which should satisfy many gamers. And lastly, the new PSP comes equipped with 8GBs of internal flash memory.

Sony is currently debating other features, like the possibility of a built-in camera. Rumors surrounding a touch screen appear to be false, as that's something that won't arrive until Sony releases their next handheld. Kotaku says Sony hasn't decided on a price for this new PSP as of yet, but they're trying to keep it under $170. They're going to start production in the next few weeks, and the redesigned PSP will make its grand entrance in July at this year's E3. Well, provided all this is true, this should help increase PSP sales, right? It sounds like a very sweet little device, that's for sure.

I like how its sounding, but seriously there is nothing wrong with the d-pad, mine works as well as ps2. My only problem with the psp is the battery life which is now better than ever. And the right analog problem though its not like there going to add it, which they should. But everything sounding promising.

I know its too early but could they at least show some pictures of what its going to look like. Cause i dont want to get it and have it look like a bombshell lol, It could happen. But again sounding very good.

Hmmm, nice find. I always thought the PSP was just a tad-bit bulky. This should change my opinion on this though. I like all of these new features too.

The sooner we get confirmation and a release the better. As I've said before I was about to get a PSP, but it would kind of suck to get it and then have a superior version come out right afterwards. This happened to me with the Gameboy Advance and I stopped playing handheld games until about a month ago when I got the DS.

I can definitely relate to this. If only I knew the 360 Elite would be out a few months after I got the Pro .

Can we repeat the same info again?
New PSP 2 details revealed: http://www.gamegrep.com/news/2352-new_psp_2_details_revealed/
And the article that can't be viewed anymore, Details for the PSP redesign: http://www.gamegrep.com/news/2387-details_for_the_psp_redesign/

Is 8GB of internal flash going to help? Wouldn't more RAM allow for games to load less? More RAM could allow for more web pages to load. I guess they could use the Flash as RAM, but wouldn't that be slow?

8GB of internal memory > load time.

Two things I want to know:

    1) When the hell did it become standard to essentially re-charge the consumer, by releasing a do-over for virtually every piece of technology on the market?
    2) What expert designed the analog stick/nub in the first place and proceeded to place it below the D-pad instead of above?

    Lets see
    NES- Top loading NES
Game boy - game boy pocket
    Sega genesis 1 - Sega genesis 2 - and Sega genesis 3
    PS1 - PSX

This has been going on for awhile.

Sounds good, especially since it has more battery power. Makes me wonder whatever happened to my brother's PSP though .
