It looks like the Joker DLC isn't the only free DLC that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be getting. You may have noticed the little "New free downloadable content coming soon!" on the game's loading screen.
DLC is always nice, but free DLC is better.

In some bizarre inversion of the normal game publisher / consumer relationship, Eidos and WBIE are keen on not only selling as many units of Batman: Arkham Asylum as possible but – having given away the razor – they want to give the blade away as well. The loading screen's "infocast" bar declares: "New free downloadable content coming soon!" No word on what this DLC is (more challenge rooms or new story sections?) but if you were on the asylum fence, this might be just the push you need to topple over into Arkham.

Well if this shows up on all versions, it's probably multiplat.

Haven't got the game yet, but hopefully it's some new challenge maps or a new character or costume.

Are there unlockable costumes in game?

Probably more challenge rooms, I'm hoping eventually Gamestop's exclusive will be out eventually for free... the Toys R Us $20 gift card was too good to pass up

Either way, I'm glad they're providing more content to an already amazing game for free. My guess is they'll keep Batman fresh for Halloween, it's definitely set me in the mood for it.

Been a little dry on games for a while, figure I might as well get this tomorrow, this was a nice little incentive.

If it's free DLC then why wasn't it included in the original release?

1)It could have been not ready by the time they finalized the game and put it on disc.
2)Releasing DLC later on down the road keeps a game fresh and keeps it alive and keeps people going back to the game to play. It's a great thing IMO, as long as they don't forget to release it, and as long as it remains free!

I don't think they should be releasing a game without all the content completed. It's unethical when you consider that not all consumers will have the ability to access the DLC, free or not. If it is part of the game, you should get it with the game.

It's not important to the game, or the story, so why not have it as DLC. The way you are putting it sounds like you don't like DLC at all and think it should all be there? DLC is good for a game to add more replay value or gameplay value. Now if it's not detrimental to the game, it shouldn't really matter too much to those unable to get it. However, perhaps later down the line devs can offer DLC over the internet for those who can't get it elsewhere, which might help?

I'm also hoping it's the Gamestop challenge map. I couldn't get a better deal than Amazon offered

But I wonder . . . this is programmed into the game's loading screen . . . So I'm guessing they plan on releasing this Free DLC for some time after the game releases, huh? It sounds weird to have it like that though, on the loading screen.

      Probably just to build hype.

Hopefully it will end up being a Batmobile Challenge Pack!
