I am currently doing the happy dance, seeing as Sony has finally dropped the price of a PS3 game! Games such as Virtua Fighter 5 and Tony Hawk's Project 8 have been dropped down to the PS2 like price of $39.99, or mostly known as 40 dollars. After reading this, I have personally decided to head to Wal-Mart and pick me up Virtua Fighter, seeing as I can now without going broke.

"One of the big complaints about next-gen software is that games for the PS3 and Xbox 360 are mainly $60. Sony has announced though that PS3 games will now be priced below $40!

This is a big announcement as Best Buy is already out in full force beginning to advertise some high quality PS3 offerings for the sweet price tag of $39.99.

The games featured with the new price tag will be Virtua Fighter 5 as well as Tony Hawk’s Project 8. Virtua Fighter 5 was originally priced at $59.99 meaning that the price of the game is dropping a very reasonable $20 while Tony Hawk’s Project 8 was originally priced at $49.99, a $10 price drop.

There is no telling as to whether or not these price drops are going to be permanent for these titles and possibly other titles but for now at least the promotion stands as that so do not hesitate if you wanted to pick these up on the PS3!"

I think thats around 40 in American dollars, right?I'm not really sure, but it would make sense, seeing as it would be another one of Sony's price dropped games.

This is highly misleading. This is more of a sale than an MSRP for games. The article even says it's a promotion.

However, it is notable for Tony Hawk to have started out at $50.

Call it whatever you want, I'll call it a way to save money.
I can afford Virtua Fighter 5 now, so thats good enough for me.

$50 for a game is insane...ever at $40 that's still insane I remember when games were only $25-30 and those were cartridges which cost even more to produce than a CD/DVD.

Games have been $50 for years and years and years. The last time I remember games being standardly sold less than 50 bucks was before NES. Besides, you're not paying for the physical format.

The cost to develop any game now overrides any cost comparison between what the games are printed on.

Hopefully all systems end up having a price drop on their games. Games usually cost about $60 Canadian here, and I've seen some back when Gamecube came out that cost me up to $82 (tax included).

40$ is ridiculous. They must be desperate to sell.

What?! IS this going on just this month or week or forever? Virtua Fighter 5 has been tracking well and selling, why would they drop it that much? Either way, now's my chance to get it!

Lol. Here in Australia some games are released at $100. Right now our cheapest games for the PS3 are $74.

    Consider yourselves lucky.

Australia probably earns more money with jobs and such though, don't they. If not though, then I guess we are lucky.

Lately I've noticed some Wii games are a bit lower in price too.

      Wow, I can't imagine paying $100 for a game. That's just insane.

For the price of 5 games, you could buy a PS3.

It must be horrid. I cant even imagine the price of a PS3 over there, let alone someone actually buying one...I probably would.

About $750, a good $150 over the price there I believe.

If I had to pay 750 dollars for a PS3, I would probably still do it. They are too good to pass up ya know.

Hmm ps3 should price there games at $53 dollars so that that makes getting games easier.

Why not make things even easier and have the developers just give us their money..

Well, 40 dollars is the average price of games nowadays. Most are around 50, but the better, next generation games for the 360 and PS3 and some Wii games can get to 60 and 70. I don't think I've seen a 100 dollar game around where I live. We just have to get used to it. Games don't cost 20-30 bucks anymore, they're expensive.

Well thats mostly cause of the disc there using. If they had the ps3 games for download, im sure it wouldn't be that much. I hope it could happen

For a game system with graphics as good as the PS3, I can't believe they would go to the extent to lower the games to $40. It's not the games, it's the system. The system costs a ridiculous amount of money, so dropping the game prices won't solve anything. They can make the games free, and people still won't get them because you can't play them without the system.

My local game stores didn't make the price drop yet. Virtua Fighter 5 was dropped 10 dollars though. I'm hoping they drop it from 50 to 40 soon so I can buy it. For some reason, Im too cheap to pay ten extra dollars.

Wow this is some major false advertising on the part of that website. It's just two games that are having the prices dropped. Two games that have been out for a while now, that obviously aren't selling. The 360 does that too, no biggie.
