The abundance of Quick Time Events in Heavy Rain has recieved flak in the past, but Quantic Dream founder David Cage recently hit out at critics who think the game is a little QTE heavy, calling their claims "Bullshit"...

Quantic Dream founder David Cage has hit out at critics who have said the studio's upcoming PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain is quick time heavy.

Asked to respond to the game's critics at gamescom last week Cage said: "Bullshit! Just bullshit! I mean what's the question? We released Fahrenheit before. People know very well what the kind of balance we're looking for is. The balance is quite similar in Heavy Rain."

Gotta admire this man and his dedication to his craft. I have always been a fan of QTE and I believe him when he says it's balanced. A lot of the scenes right now have a lot of QTE but he's only showing the action scenes. Like Fahreinheit/Indigo Prophecy before it there was also 50-60% of the game with no QTE and was merely walking around and talking, looking for clues and stuff. So yes QTE is their combat system but it's not the whole game.

You know what, i hope it is balanced and doesn't wave in favor of QTE's because nowadays i'm getting SICK of QTE's they really really annoy me =|

I think in Heavy Rain's case, it works. I mean, the big beef I have is QTE is being forced to get it right the first time. In Heavy Rain, based on what I played at SDCC, there's more room for reaction... and as we know, death doesn't stop the game.

I just despise QTE's as a whole anyway, something not helped by Resident Evil 5. It's kind of a conundrum though, because I hate QTE's but I couldn't give a *bleep* about Heavy Rain anymore.

I stink at the QTE. I die nearly every time . . . and about 5 or 6 times afterward!!

Still I can't wait for the game. I have a feeling though if I play the way the dev wants me to play (not using saves, and not restarting the game and all that), I'll have a very short and sad story for my first try

Quick Time Events are only irritating if you have 0.36 of a second to do them in, and they flash up so quickly you can't tell what they are - circa WET or Force Unleashed.

If you give us a bit of time to do it in, and let us re-try it straight away if we fail, then I don't mind QTE's.
