With the recent price cut of the Xbox 360 Elite and the release of the Playstation 3 Slim, Microsoft look set to turn up the heat with a new 'Super Elite' bundle.

Now that the Xbox 360 Elite has had its price trimmed, there is room at the top for something even MORE elite... And now that gap has been filled. Coming to South Africa in October will be the Xbox 360 'Super Elite', the new big daddy of the range, featuring a massive 250GB hard drive and two wireless controllers.

I hope this bundle comes out worldwide. I will definitely get it if it does, since my current 360 is almost dead, especially if it comes with Forza 3. Plus the 250GB hard drive would be great for installing games.

Bundling a 360 with the wireless dongle would be a great way to combat the PS3 Slim. That's where your extra £50 is going to at the moment.

"Super Elite"... To quote Sony "What is this 1992?".. I think this is too much. Micrsoft surely should have learned people don't want to pay lots for a console. Sony proved that with 2 years of less than positive but still good sales. I just think this bundle will raise the price to like $399 or higher and really with the 120Gb bundles from Sony and Microsoft at $299, an extra 130Gb and an extra controller for what could be an extra $100 or more will not be as popular for sure.

But you have to remember that now you can install games on the Xbox 360. It would be too tedious to buy two 120GB hard drives and be continuously switching them. That is what is worth the extra money.

True though there is still that option of just not installing anything as you still need the disc and load times aren't cut by much.

Who actually installs a game to help load times though? It makes the system run with less noise and prevents the discs from getting scratched to hell. If I had a 250 GB HDD I'd load as much as I could to prevent scratches on my discs.

There's also the new Games on Demand feature where you download an entire 360 game to the HDD and play it off of that.

The current list includes Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect and Oblivion. There's more, but those are the only ones I really cared to look at.

I'm currently happy with my Elite. Its 120GB HDD is more than enough to keep me satisfied.

I'm sure Microsoft won't put the effort into creating a new bundle simply to sell it in South Africa. Maybe it's just a trial or something to see if it will be successful.
