Somebody in Japan felt the wrath of Capcom's banhammer really hard for using modified data online on Monster Hunter 3. According to an automatic notification he's been banned till the year 9999.

Monster Hunter developer Capcom is taking cheating seriously. Very seriously. That, or it's automatic responses might need a-fixin'.

The below image reads:

    Dear Customer

You are presently banned for using modded data to connect online. The ban will be left at 22:49 on 12/12/9999. The next time you violate the terms of use, you will never again be able to connect.

The year 9999 might be a long time, but it's not "never". Never is a long time. 9999? A blink in the space-time continuum.

I'm curious as to how he got banned online

    was he using cheats online?

or did he like, beef his character up offline to amazing yet obtainable stats, and then go online with that character and got banned?

cos I know there are already codes for this game

Sounds like the latter since they found modded content which was most probably used for the character online.

Cheating is for PS2 gamers. If you still cheat to get further in a game today for the 360/PS3, you are a poor loser.

This happens to be a Wii game, though.

Personally I think it's rather sad when someone cheats. If you suck at the game, and can't stand it, either try to get better at it or stop playing. Also, if you do cheat you should at least be prepared for the price if you get caught.

That said hackers found with The Conduit that they could modift everything and pretty much unban a user by modifying the user code on the disc. Once done the user if they knew what they were doing could give themselves unlimited ammo online, infinite health etc... Mainly because The Conduit had no disc security.

Tbh, from what i've heard the Wii is the easiest console to mod and hack, seriously it's all over the net about it, it's practically the next Dreamcast =|

Yeah, released a couple of weeks ago. There's already people in the HR 70's online and gameplay videos of them fighting high rank creatures like Albatorian.

If in the recent future a genius scientist discovers the secret to eternal life, the poor company will have a million dollar lawsuit filed against them in 7990 years for forgetting to relinquish the ban. That would be awesome.
