With God Of War 1 and 2 are being re-released on Blu-Ray, Kotaku asked other gaming companies whether they will consider re-releasing their big-name series for PS3.

Konami have no announcements at the moment, though they "are constantly exploring unique ways to expose players to some of our legacy titles such as Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill".

Capcom have beeing seeing "some interested for Devil May Cry to get this treatment" and would like fans to tell them which games they'd like to see re-released on their official forums.

Sony currently only have God of War planned for re-release.

And Square Enix refused to comment on the matter.

Now that God Of War 1 & 2 are being re-released on Blu-Ray, can we expect other series to follow suit?

"We are constantly exploring unique ways to expose players to some of our legacy titles such as Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill", a Konami representative told us. "Re-releasing games on Blu-ray presents an exciting opportunity for a publisher, however we have no announcements at this time".

"I don't want anyone reading this the wrong way (as I'm not saying anything like this could happen) but I'm seeing some interested for DMC to get this treatment", said Capcom's Christian Svensson, posting on the company's Unity forums. "Are there other titles you'd like see go this way? I'm looking for some temperature readings".

"We're always looking at new ways of getting content on PS3", Sony's Patrick Seybold told us, "but as of now, [God of War] is the only one planned."

Square Enix, sadly, refused to offer comment.

I can see a good thing quickly becoming silly... We are happy for God of War Collection and I wouldn't mind an Ico Collection with "Ico" and "Shadow of the Collosus" but thats about it. I know Konami can do some epic collections also like Metal Gear Saga with MGS1, 2 and 3 in a box. Though at this rate the PS3 will have 3000 games by the end of 2010 and 2000 of those will be re-released PS2 titles which to me isn't cool.

Agreed. I don't mind a few releases here and there, but if they start flooding the market with them no one going to want to buy them.

I'm not sure if I agree. It's not like we're going to be replacing PS3 titles with PS2 ones. But it will give people (like myself) who missed out on the PS2 generation to play some of these classics, especially if there are sequels or spin offs of this generation to play. Especially since you can't get a BC PS3 anymore (unless you get one used), I think it's a great idea to offer more PSX/PS2 titles either as retail releases or via PSN. Even more so since many (such as Silent Hill) are out of print and are hard to get even if you have a PS2 or BC PS3 to play them on.

They should just release them on the PSN like the PS1 classics. A lot easier since it seems the box and manuel cost more than the actual disc these days.

I would actually like to see a HD remake of Metal Gear Solid and not that crappy Twin Snakes shit that was on the Gamecube.
