Kokugamer have compiled a list of the 15 top gaming consoles of all time. This list features consoles old & new and has information about each console listed and commercials.

How would you list your top consoles?

Well we at Kokugamer thought it was about time to make a Top 15 consoles of all time list and if you don’t mind a few handhelds on this list then we will be giving you, our fans, a good list of the best consoles.

      I think its more of a nostalgia sort of thing than the actual games being any good. I think we all enjoy games we played as a kid we know now that sucked.

      Because, not only is it most popular, but also as was said in the article, it was the most groundbeaking console ever which almost every gamer has owned at some point, and has great games.

      PS1 was good, but come on. PS2 is more sophisticated.

        PS1 broke much more ground than PS2 did. By the time the PS2 came out most of the ground was already broken, as it were, the PS2 just finished the job and continued down the path.

        Popularity doesn't make something better or "good". If 1 million people found bags of shit trendy, they're still bags of shit.

        I am not dogging on the PS2, I am just saying that popularity is not the reason why something is good.

        In the end though the PS2 was placed at number one for the simple reason that its the author's opinion. The list parades itself as fact with a title like that, but truly all it is his his top 15 favorites, not objectively that those consoles are the best because in the end consoles are different and appeal to different people and there's no true objective way to discern what is "better" or "best".

    The PS2 fully deserves number 1. I still can't find a fault with it as of now. It wasn't jam packed with useful but niche features, it wasn't horribly overpriced at launch, and it didn't claim to have a processor that ate babies for breakfast. It had great games from the start, and they just kept on getting better and better. And that's what makes a great console.

          To tell you the truth it's not that much of a bullshit. I can name many reasons the writer could have used in the "Bad" section of each of them, Wii has crap hardware to it's time, 360 is full of technical issues and isn't really that much of a seller, and the PS3... well the PS3 should've been there at least.

          While I don't think its true that "nothing" will beat the classics and if developers had a defeatist attitude like that, classics of this generation would be no more. However this article is still this persons opinion, and personally, while I haven't played that many consoles before, if I had a top, lets say, 5, I personally would but 1 next gen console. In the end though its still subjective, different consoles appeal to different people.

      The Dreamcast didn't even last a full generation. While it may deserve to be ranked higher, I don't think it comes close to the Playstation and N64 consoles.

        Tbh, it all comes down to opinion, theres really no point in trying to argue against me, because it's my opinion, i was just trying to point out that these top lists are NEVER accurate for everyone.

        My opinion is that the Dreamcast is #1 whilst your opinion may differ, simple as that.

          And he's just offering his opinion on your opinion; not everyone's trying to step on your freedoms.

          I'd agree with Dreamcast being number 1 were it not for the fact that it was screwed over in terms of longevity.

          Meh, only thing that screwed the Dreamcast was the fact that it is VERY VERY easy to make games for it yourself =| thus making it easier to make them than buy them =/ it's what destroyed the sales of the dreamcasts games and in the end destroyed the dreamcast.
