It's kind of like a Mr. Bean movie; he has good intentions but always seems to still get the raw end or trip over himself or be tripped over by someone else, in this case Microsoft. They have every right to charge for DLC on the marketplace, but we all know the majority don't care about anything other than complaining, so prepare for more hatred against Valve (and more hatred against the hatred against Valve) because the upcoming DLC (Crash Course) for the 360 version will cost 560 MS points by Microsoft's will.

The PC version, downloadable from Steam, will still be completely free.

He (Left 4 Dead writer Chet Faliszek) explained it all by telling Eurogamer that, “We own our platform, Steam. Microsoft owns their platform. They wanted to make sure there’s an economy of value there ... It’s not like [Valve is] looking at this as ‘we need some money, we’re going to charge,’ obviously, or we’d do it on the PC. So it’s just kind of the way the system works right now.”

For those of you who have already lit your torch and grabbed your pitchfork, we're heading for Microsoft instead! Burn baby, burn!

L4D DLC on the 360 was free last time so it's not really again per se but yeah that is a bit lame and what the hell is with the random amount of points? I hope that is a joke or something.

Don't blame me, blame whichever ignoramus edited it before approving =/

That "ignoramus" would be me. I was referencing the Team Fortress 2 DLC struggle. The previous headline was a bit vague -- edited again.

The previous headline was slightly vague but the article description, quote and article itself were all clear as crystal. Don't be so afraid about causing slight offenses to morons (the only demographic who would have been offended) when there are much bigger problems on GG, especially if you edit it to an actually misleading title.

          Jus' saying.

No one is "afraid." However, given the recent trend of article comments getting out of hand, Tiger, we have to be a little more choosy. I'm sure you understand.

          Oooh, feisty xD

How not definitively highlighting that Microsoft are the ones behind the need for payment in the title even though it's overstated in every other manner is going to start a flame war is something I can't understand, actually. It's like political correctness; since you're afraid (there is no other word for it) of offending anyone you changed it and then did the thing more likely to offend people, tripping yourself up. You may as well tattoo 'may contain nuts' onto Red's ball sack at this rate.

It's a pointless debate anyway since we all know within about a month the actual flame bait and consequent fallout will return along with the returning apathy of the mods and admins, what with the summer peace-keeping vibe wearing off with the stresses of work and the like. Not to sound like a cheap Joker rip-off or anything. Still, good luck.

It's a never-ending uphill battle, for sure. I really do apologize for altering your headline inaccurately, though. Did not mean to upset anyone.

Well this is old. Hasn't this been announced awhile back?

And why "again" Like what conel3, the only other dlc was survival and that was free (at the expense of achievements)

And for years developers have been saying they want there some of there dlc to be free but Microsoft makes them put a price on this so tbh I was expecting this.

Wow. Jesus. Stupid shit like this really makes it obvious how special and awesome Valve is that they'd regularly release content like this for FREE while MS wouldn't even entertain that thought.

It sucks that a developer like that would have so many haters because of a single off color remark by a single person.

Tbh with you, i've come to expect this from Microsoft, so i really don't mind paying the price for the DLC.

As much as I'm not really bothered paying for Crash Course at all, its kind of a dick move for Microsoft to make Valve charge for it if they wanted to make it free.

I just hope the 'less intelligent' people don't pin this on Valve, just cause they don't know the facts.
