The Madden Curse has claimed its latest victim. For those of you who haven't heard of the Madden Curse, it says that any athlete featured on Maddeb NFL's game cover, will be injured in some way.

This year's cover athlete Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers injured his knee in last night’s game versus the Tennessee Titans. While trying to recover a blocked field goal, Polamalu sprained his Medial Collateral Ligament, and will be out for 3-6 weeks.

I think it's more likely a stunt by EA... unless if he had any major games coming up in the next 3-6 weeks, it seems possible *not American, wouldn't know*

Indeed you don't. Read up on the Madden curse and you'll understand.

Lol, this 'curse' doesn't seem to give up.

I know the basics of the curse (player goes on the cover = player gets injured), but is there more to it? Like, specifics that could ruin actual tournaments or important games? 'cause if it has no lasting effect on his career or team, it could still be a stunt.

Each team plays 16 regular season games and the top 6 teams from each conference(theres 2) make the playoffs so every game is important. Hes missing out on 1/3 of the season and the conference he is in is pretty tough so if they loose 1 or even 2 games that their supposed to win while hes out its gonna hurt a lot.

Yea...because the players really care about who is on the front cover of a video game enough to try and injure a person...come on.

Anybody notice that the players being injured are involved in a game that just screams "injury"?

Pfft......American football is soft compared to the likes of rugby.

football is just as brutal as any other sport

But in rugby you don't have any of that protection.

It's an age old discussion... If players in the NFL played Rugby there would literally be deaths.

Rugby is far more brutal, but the athletes aren't on the same level.

If NFL players played Rugby they would just not be so ridiculously over the top with how they play, in the same way if Rugby players played in the NFL they'd go crazily over-the-top; the athletes do have common sense after all.

Not at all...Not when it comes to sports and a team you hate...

          ...that makes it acceptable.

It's still a little messed up.

Then you're obviously not a sports nut, so what would you know? I didn't say I hope the guy dies, I said I'm glad he's injured, ergo when my team plays them there's one less player to worry about. A good one to boot.

Same goes for that whiny bitch Peyton Manning.

          Trexman89 Sep 14, 09
yea cause its not like your team should win using actual talent instead of hoping the other team gets injured......the only fans with that mentallity would be 49er or raider fans, cause neither of those teams would have any chance getting close to the superbowl.

So glad that Peterson turned them down again this year. I think him, LT and Brady are the only ones who have been smart enough to tell them no.

It's American football. Injuries happen all the time. It's not a curse, it's just the fact the sport requires tons of physical contact, tackling, and body guards.
