Firmware update added one feature that many people complained about, the 'Whats new' feature underneath the network icon. While many find this annoying, it has proven to be great feature for developers. The creators of Burn Zombie Burn have seen a 40% sales increase because of this form of advertising and we can expect other PSN games to sales burst. So you might not like the 'whats new' icon, but dev's sure do love it.

"We're ecstatic at the 3.00 upgrade because not only have our sales gone up 40 per cent since the update but for me personally it's what I've been calling for and looking forward to for a long time," said James Brooksby, studio head at Doublesix.

Surely if there is a sales spike doesn't that mean that people are actually using this feature. I personally love it I launch my last played games from it all the time now, it is awesome. Now if Sony added a feature in a future update to allow the install of full games to the HDD for those with 250Gb+ of space then that feature would be even better as it is limited by needing the disc on retail games. Overall it's a great addition.

I think this may be more due to the huge sale spike which has been occurring with the Slim PS3 and the price cut for the 60GB. Though 3.00 likely helps.
