With Final Fantasy XIII's Japanese release just a few months away, Hirokazu Hamamura, president of Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, expects the game to move half a million PS3s in Japan...with a little help from the PS3 price drop.

Hirokazu Hamamura, president of Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, said today in a speech with the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan that he expects the PS3 to sell around 500,000 units over the year end sales period. He expects the surge to come both due to the popularity of Final Fantasy XIII, which is due out on December 17, and due to the system's lower price.

I kinda figured most fans of the series already have a PS3.

I'd say there's still a fair number holding out. If you're just a fan of the game, why buy before it comes out? Especially with some awesome bundles to sweeten the deal.

Of course someone from Enterbrain would say that. Square Enix and Famitsu are bum buddies. I can see the 40 review now.
