Speculated designs of a classic shell for the Wii Remote floated around the internet long before Nintendo unveiled its Classic Controller for Wii. Nyko finally makes this vision a reality with its new Classic Controller Grip. Not only does it provide a more comfortable grip for the classic controller, it also has a built in clip to house the Wii Remote, preventing the hassle of having it dangle dangerously as you play your favorite Virtual Console games.

The Wii's ever expanding Virtual Console library is definitely one of the coolest features the console's got going on. Revisiting old classics via a convenient and accessible interface rocks, and we're especially excited for the upcoming Neo Geo release. If there is any downside to the whole system, we feel it's the Classic Controller. It's both less ergonomic than any modern controller design and is incapable of operating without a connection to a Wiimote. As most fans will agree, finding a place to put a dangling Wiimote while playing with the Classic Controller can be a pain, and the whole arrangement tends to look wonky.
Nyko is out to remedy this issue via its newest accessory release for the Wii, the Classic Controller Grip. The device is basically a pair of plastic pieces that grip the Classic Controller and Wiimote and allow the two to couple together in a neat and tidy package. The Classic Controller portion adds handle prongs for improved comfort, while the bottom-center Wiimote holder features some cable management hooks to keep the Classic Controller's wire from getting tangled and in the way. The whole apparatus attaches to the Classic Controller via the slots on the Classic Controller's underside.
