Yesterday we learnt that Left 4 Dead 2 has been banned in Australia. Obviously Valve aren't too pleased with the news, but they were also pretty surprised it even happened.
The least Australians can hope for is a (sigh) censored version of the game hitting their shores.

The news that Left 4 Dead 2 will be effectively banned in Australia came as a shock to the folks at developer Valve, VP of marketing Doug Lombardi has told Shacknews.
"We were surprised to hear of this news yesterday," the executive informed us. "Obviously, everyone at Valve is pretty bummed."

Why is anybody still surprised when bad video game news like this involves Australia ?

Australians get screwed over when it comes to video games. If it isn't banned in their country, it's usually released six months after everybody else. When they finally do get it, it's laggy as hell to play with them in multiplayer.

One of the things I hate about living here; the bad latency for overseas gaming. >_>

I think it's the immense levels of moronic ignorance the people who make these decisions more often than not sink to that surprises people the most; I mean, killing a bunch of zombies in this game is bad but killing a bunch of zombies in other zombie games that made it through is A-okay? We know Australia gets screwed but the level of stupidity by which they get screwed never ceases to bring new meaning to the term '*bleep*ing retarded'.

HAHAHA thats so true! Since i've moved overseas to Sweden, I don't have to put up with S#!T like that anymore.

I think that since the OFLC have found out that they have a mighty controlling power, they have gone drunk with the power...

So then, they should take Resident Evil 5 off the shelves as that too has more life-like zombies AND the game is bordering racism apparently.

News like this makes me sad...

tbh if they banned RE5 and unbanned L4D2, I don't think anyone will be complaining.

      I know I won't, but I don't live in australia.

Maybe the OFLC is trying to get Gabe Newell to fly them to the Valve studios for a firsthand look of the game to be persuaded to change their opinion.
