    Microsoft must be really desperate for people to upgrade for all that they are doing at the moment...

      Terribly terribly desperate. There not making any money AT ALL. There not selling us useless shit that we keep buying because we have no minds of our own. There not-- oh wait.

      THEY ARE.

      This is just a promotional thing. last time I checked

      Promotion =/= desperate.

    What do they mean by this:

    and grants Silver Subscribers an additional two months at now extra charge.
    How could silver subscribes have an additional two months if they didn't have any gold before?

      It means if you buy a 12 month card you get 2 months free.

      Like the 13 month card they had with Halo.

        Hardly a bargain, IMO. Now if they had a "Buy a 12-month subscription, get 12 months free!" deal . . . I'd say excellent, go for it everyone!

          While I agree that two months free sounds like crap, I rather doubt that they would give away a free year of service with one year purchased. Remember, these are the same people that gave us Vista and only three years later, they've already got a brand new OS. Maybe a more measured approach would be like... oh, give a game away for free or give some MS points. That might be something they would do...
