Now according to IGN there was some reports saying that there is a halo game coming to nintendo DS. Many have claimed it to be nothing more than a rumor. Well now IGN said it is a game and its real. According to Matt Casamassina he claimed to have played a demo of it. And now its said more info on this game will be revealed next week. What does this mean exactly, stay tuned and find out next week.

Matt Casamassina from IGN posted a while back that he had played Halo on the Nintendo DS. It didn’t take too long before this was debunked as strictly a rumor and was burned into vaporware. However, in IGN’s Wii-k in Review podcast for 6/15/2007 (ie: last nights) Mr. Casamassina brought it up again, and had this to say:

“It’s a real game… we’re going to lay down some ownage next week or soon afterward by showing you guys that it is a real game.“

It’s a very cool listen - if you want to look for this it takes place a little bit after the half-hour mark. IGN sounds very intent on really showing the naysayers that Halo for the DS is, or at least was, a real playable game in the vain of Metroid Prime Hunters with pseudo-X-Box-one visuals.

Casamassina cited Microsoft as the most likely reason that the project didn’t see the light of day, but it should be intriguing to see what comes up when IGN publishes some info on the fabled DS shooter within the next week or so. Keep an eye on IGN’s DS page after the weekend.

This could get really, really messy.

I would absolutely love to see this game come out of the Microsoft Platform exclusivity.

An announcement of an announcement? Brilliant!

Put up or shut-up IGN. I would have rather waited for everyone to get blind-sided.

Shooter on DS = bad news. FPS games belong on my TV.

Shooter on DS = bad news? How so? Metroid Prime Hunters proved that the DS could pull of a fun, frantic online mode. Brothers in Arms: War Stories proved that the DS could handle an immersive, beautiful(DS standards, obviously), and overall amazing single player mode. Both featured some great controls(although Brothers in Arms is technically a TPS, it's really an FPS with the camera not locked to your face to allow hiding behind walls, crouching and such).

Either way, the DS can have some great FPSes. It just has very few developers who are willing to actually develop one.

FPS belong on a PC. Duel Analog Stick is lame.

A thousand of gamers can say different, the mouse is not a perfect tool in any way, I wouldn't trust them with my cursor.

Mice are MUCH better for FPS gaming than a controller, Wiimote, or stylus.

As much as I agree wholeheartedly that THE CONTROL SCHEME is best executed on a computer, it's the way the game is made that can also make is playable.

Have NONE of you seen Brothers in Arms DS?

I'm actually looking forward to this, it must be a real revolution Nintendo is offering this time with the new generation consoles.

I like the box-arts. I may actually think about getting this game, although I do hate Halo...it may be fun on the DS.

While I don't believe that Halo on the DS will happen. It will still be interesting to see what IGN can come up with for this.

But also I would think Halo on the DS could work. If done right.

You've got to be kidding me. This will suck total ass and be a total waste.

    So this is real? Awesome.

I cannot wait for this game to release. A must-buy for sure.

If this truly is real, then great stuff. Metroid Prime Hunters was absolutely awesome, and one of the DS games I play the most. I bet that Halo could pull off a similar feat if the same style of controls are used.

Hehehe, gotta love the x360 fanboys reeling about this. Myself I care less I don't like FPS games on anything but my PC, beside that Halo wasn't my cup of tea anyway. I don't like mindless console shooters.

At least we know it can't be an April Fools joke, April being long gone. I'd still like to see what they come up with in the end.

From what I read on that site a few months ago, this game was in development, and was canceled by the powers that be, most likely due to conflict between Nintendo and Microsoft. I'm not sure why they have brought this back up now.

Also liked i said yesterday that this could be just the original halo, which it could happen. Also MS isnt in competition with nintendo so why not.

Hmm, Dynasty Warriors on a hand held springs to mind. not because the games are similar because they're not.

But because I think it's just going to one of those games that won't succeed on a handheld.

The good thing is it means Halo won't be exclusively Microsoft. XD

      well what do you mean?
This could be the original halo, which we already know halo 1 and 2 are going to be on the PC.

    Bread Effect Jun 27, 07
    They both are already.

I think it could work if done properly. I wouldn't mind having Halo protable.
