In the spirit of Father's Day Virtual Console has released some good old fashioned father and son games. Enjoy a round of golf, chasing an Olympic gold medal dream, or senselessly shooting and blowing up enemies. Depending on the nature of your father, you may want to do all 3.

  • NES Open Tournament Golf (NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points): Enjoy a long and relaxing walk with Mario, stopping occasionally to batter an innocent white ball with a large club. Tournament and Match Modes sound enjoyable enough, though you'll probably want to put on a hat for Stroke Mode.
  • World Sports Competition (TurboGrafx-16, 1-5 players, 600 Wii Points): Comprised of 18 events, the Olympics competition sees the world's most skilled photographers competing to capture the first image of a legendary creature, the Olym!
  • Bloody Wolf (TurboGrafx-16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points): In this top-down shooter, it's up to you to rescue the president and otherwise blow up the sort of people who make jokes like the one in the paragraph above.

Aw awesome! I wish I'd have seen this before yesterday. I would have got it! Sounds awesome! Gotta love a good old crap-graphics-classic once in a while.

The games look alright. I would of thought they would of released a bigger name of a game but oh well.

That's really good use of making money for Nintendo, everyone goes crazy buying gifts for fathers day. I think it was clever or Nintendo to do this.

Nostalgia Quellilo, plain and simple nostalgia.

I have to agree with Quellilo on this one. They don't look like very appealing games, even to a Dad. I mean, Dads dont really play Video Games as much as us. :/

Maybe if there would be more 1-4 player games, then it would be worth playing so the whole family could get involved.

Although, using Fathers Day as a motivator was a clever idea indeed.
