Electronic Theatre reports on the launch of an official wiki for Demon's Souls by publisher Atlus, in which the community is asked to gather and assist those in need.

The Wiki can be found here: http://www.demons-souls.com/wiki/

Atlus U.S.A., Inc., looking particularly supportive, have launched a community-driven Demon's Souls wiki on the game's official website, intended to serve as assistance for newcomers and struggling players of the upcoming groundbreaking Action Role-Playing Game (RPG) experience for PlayStation 3. And with Demon’s Souls being considered a very challenging title, it’ll most likely be needed by many.

I think it's great of Atlus to support this game so heavily. It's actually a fantastic strategy that is necessary with today's market.

I agree. But it is needed. Having owned the import for a few months, and gone through 2 playthroughs with my uber char, I didn't think this game would do well here because of the difficulty curve and nature of gameplay. I am shocked, and really really happy, the US games media got behind this and are praising it. I do still think some gamers will not be expecting what they get with Demon Souls but hopefully they will be few in number.

Now, compare the support of Demon Souls by ATLUS (which is a fantastic company that does imports the right way along with NIS) with Capcom's support of Monster Hunter Freedom United. I would argue MH and DS has a number of similarities with the upgrade/leveling system, difficulty curve, etc... Capcom had a great media campaign, and a community site, but has never gone the extra step to really get behind Monster Hunter in the US as it does in Japan. Add this with Sony's asinine refusal or delaying the release of ad hoc party (which would have allowed those without friends w/ MH to play online via the PS3) absolutely makes no logical sense.

Maybe with the success of Demon Souls Sony/Capcom will wake up, support the title the right way, get ad hoc party a worldwide release, and finally, finally deliver a MH experience on one of the more powerful next gen platforms that have already had successful titles in this vein (e.g. Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy XI)

It's good to see the more detailed and decent games getting ground work laid out by the developers and publishers. Seeing all the resources and advertisements or good scores is half of what buying a game takes. Playing the game is another story but with good support more are likely to at least give the game a shot.
