Fallout 3 fans, whether you've picked up the game already or are still curious, the Game of the Year Edition is available as of today, packing all DLC and updates. It's $50 on PC and $60 for consoles.

Bethesda has taken the liberty of photographing each of the versions , as shown here -- looks purdy.

Beautiful, I may pick this up sometime next month. I already own Fallout 3 on PS3 but it works out about the same to just buy Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition as each bit of DLC is like £7.99 in the UK. All 5 come to £39.95 and through Shopto.net i'll probably get the GOTY Edition for £32.99.

If I trade in my old Fallout 3 for the Game of the Year addition I'll still be able to play all my files right?

    If so, I'm so there.

Worked that way for the GOTY edition of Oblivion, I don't see why the same can't apply to this as well.

I only got Fallout a month or two ago. I didn't think this was coming out for a while yet Oh well. I guess I'll be trading in and upgrading with all the DLC's.

I'll wait for a price drop, I already beat Fallout 3 a few times before I traded it in for Persona 4.

Saves from the regular version of Fallout 3 do NOT work on the GotY on PS3. The GotY creates and uses a new folder for the saves.

Reported and complained by a lot of people @ Bethesda forums.

Oh that's just F******G GREAT then.

Well, I guess thats just the way they want it if they want to collect the most money for the DLC on PSN or LIVE.

It's never about giving the customer the great deal, it's about raping the customer for every dollar that they have.

If they made the original save files compatible with the GOTY Ed. then they would lose too much money they could poke a stick at as many people wouldnt buy the content from the internet.

Or maybe it's just a technical issue.

Well, I read around a bit, and found that the problem is only affecting Canada- apparently, the stores over there stocked games with two SKUs- BLUS30216 and BLUS30455. If the GOTY edition's SKU doesn't match the SKU of the original game you played on, you're screwed.

In short, just make sure that the SKU of the GOTY edition you buy is exactly the same as the SKU of the original game you had, and you should have no problems.

      Quoting Wolfsong from Beth forums.
No. Same problem here in Sweden. Got my GOTY in the mail today and experience the same issues are reported above. Double save games folders and won't allow me to open my old save games in GOTY. I spent 120 hours on that so I won't redo it. If they don't fix it I'll make sure no one I know buys GOTY edition that's for sure.

      Standard version: BLES00333
      GOTY version: BLES00737

Others have reported that the GOTY edition reads their old saves. I guess its a SKU issue in some regions.

Sucks for the people that want to continue their existing saves. But I only had the 360 version, not the PC version. I'm getting GOTY on the PC this time around, so I'd be starting fresh anyhow.
