Remember that teaser site that Koei Tecmo had launched a couple weeks ago? Well, in a press event today, coupled with leaked scans from this week's Weekly Famitsu magazine, Koei Tecmo has officially announced Hokuto Musou (北斗無双), the latest game in their Musou (Warriors) series, for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Hokuto Musou will be a Musou titled based off of Hokuto no Ken, known as Fist of the North Star in the West. Players will mainly control the man's man Kenshiro, but other characters Julia, Raoh, Toki, and Souther will also be available. Supersexy pop singer Nana Tanimura will be singing the game's theme song.

The game will release in 2010. Keep up with the game's site here.

YOU WA SHOCK!

Nearly three decades ago, Buronson and Testuo Hara created Hokuto no Ken, or "Fist of the North Star." The series made history, influencing manga and anime for years to come, and will soon be making its debut in current-gen gaming.

KOEI announced their "Hokuto Musou" project this Wednesday, October 14 -- Japan lives in the future -- during Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo. The original Fist of the North Star creators have signed on with KOEI for the "Hokuto Musou" project and will be collaborating with producer Hisashi Koinuma, as well as TECMO KOEI president Kenji Matsubara.

In this adaptation, players will take on the role of Kenshiro, true sucessor to the Hokuto Shinken art of assassination. As he searches for a lost love, his journey will eventually pit him against his unstable big brother Raoh, who had murdered Kenshiro's master. Along the way, you'll get to tear through enemies with signature moves of the excessively violent nature.

Anyway, producer Koinuma vows to stay true to the original design in this 3D hi-def adaptation. He's sure fans won't be disappointed. For now, the game is only marked for a 2010 Japanese release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3; hopefully Fist of the North Star fans in the West will soon have their fair share.
