Have you ever wanted to just make your own RPG? Well now you can with RPG Tsukuru DS (as it is called in Japan). You will be able to make the characters, story, map, monsters, and pretty anything else that makes up a good RPG. RPG Tsukuru DS is planned to be released on January 28 in Japan. No US release has been announced yet.

Enterbrain announced a Nintendo DS version of the popular RPG Maker title this week.

RPG Tsukuru DS (as it is called in Japan) will allow you to make your very own Japan-style RPG, defining everything from characters and world maps to monsters and equipment. The tools are all stylus compatible, making the creation process a lot faster than before, and you'll be able to use the Wi-Fi connection to exchange game data with your friends.

In RPG Tsukuru DS you're free to create all your own graphics but it will also include over 800 character-building parts, 1500 map parts, over 150 pieces of music, and everything else you need to get rolling immediately.

RPG Tsukuru DS is planned to be released on January 28 in Japan. No US release has been announced yet.

      Um no. Haha.
RPG Maker has been around since the 90s -- it lets you create a whole RPG more or less from scratch. It's very comprehensive -- certainly not for the "casual" type.

Then don't make a load of tricks for it xD

I'm guessing the play aspect would be from having friends playing your RPGs and you playing theirs.

That's definitely part of it. I'm hoping this will also have some kind of WiFi support. If you couldn't send games, at least characters and stuff like that. That'd be so awesome.

Don't count on this coming to America.

Enterbrain isn't a big fan of us since the PC games are pirated very much. Awesome idea though.

I'm not sure there's a correlation, or that Japan pirates any less.

Possibly, but Enterbrain has actually called America out when there was high demand for a officially translated version of the PC RPG Makers. And the sales of the PS2 games that exited Japan haven't been all that great.

While it'd be nice to have this game come to America, I wouldn't hold my breath.

the pc apps are really popular, but i don't understand why anyone who has it on PC would want it on ds.. it would only be more limiting.

Limited might be good though -- could be accessible for the people who don't want to spend months (or even years) making a game.

They HAVE to make this compatible with the PC version, somehow.

I'm sold already. I loved playing around with the RPG Maker for the PSX, though I honestly didn't get too into it – I was pretty young and it overwhelmed me, haha. But nowadays I'd love to sink my teeth into something like this.
