While Game Informer spoke with Aaron Greenberg, Director of Product Management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, he admitted that Sony would come out on top in the September NPD sales.

Sony sold over one million of its new PS3 in just 3 weeks after its release. Even with sales that massive, Greenberg remains confident that the Xbox 360 will outsell the PS3 for not only the calender year, but for this generation of consoles.

“What I can tell you is we remain confident that Xbox 360 will not only outsell PS3 for the full calendar year, but for this entire generation.”

Sony brought out a new type of ps3 and Microsoft stoped production of the premium xbox360. I think it was obvious who was going to win last month.

They better have admitted defeat. After over a million PS3 Slims sold in just one month, I find that tough to beat.

“What I can tell you is we remain confident that Xbox 360 will not only outsell PS3 for the full calendar year, but for this entire generation.”

    We'll see.

i still dont understand why console fans concern themselves with the sales figures of their preferred console vs the competing company.

Some people actually have stock in companies...that said, most gamers probably don't, but for some people it really is a valid reason to care about sales.

As said before, Sony essentially re-released their console, this time much more successfully. Not since September 2007 has a console beat the Wii in terms of hardware sales, and that was a one off month (I assume Halo 3), so good job Sony.

From looking at estimated sales charts, they're continuing to sell good, not just a 1-off

Why the hell should we care if MS admits defeat? The numbers already tell us that MS lost in September, and we don't need them to tell us that. It's almost like saying "We only lost because we said so!"

It's just that Microsoft just a few days ago said they are confident that they will beat Sony for the month.

This article is Microsoft eating thier own words.

But seriously, none of this matters anyway, because the console war is just stupid, and most people own both machines anyway.

    War? :/

So this only ends when each company release their next console? So doesn't that automatically give Sony the win as they're not thinking of replacing the PS3 for another decade while MS are working on 720 as we speak? Haven't a clue about the Wii..but it's the Wii for god sakes Tis epic lil thing.
