Uncharted would not be the same if it wasn't for the phenomenal motion capture and voice acting. Nolan North (drake) talked with Edge Magazine about the Uncharted movie, which was announced in July. He mentioned that he would like to play the role of Drake in the movie. We know he has the voice, but does he have the look to be drake?
Speaking on the latest Official PlayStation podcast, North was asked if he was going to audition for the movie, to which he replied: “Actually I just spoke with Ari Arad… Yeah, I want to do the movie. I mean I would love to do it as Nathan Drake and if I keep getting such recognition as bringing this character to life like no one else can, I would love to play myself. But I’ve been in this business for long time now and I’ve done film, I’ve done television and I understand the realities of the business…”

Now...what are his acting skills? He's got the voice and whatnot, but physically, does he have any talent?
Acting is comprised of verbal and non-verbal communication. The oldest form of modern acting is the theatre. A lot of the time, you can't accurately make out the faces of the actors. That leaves you with their voice and greater body movements. It's how you say the line and how you move the line, how you move in the space, proximics. So tell me again acting is not in body language. Just say it. I dare you.
The effectiveness of an actor's performance rests solely on these two aspects. Let me tell you, I've seen some powerful work on the stage - not able to clearly see their facial expressions.
I'd also like to add the instinctual facial movements that take place when performing. It's a million times harder to NOT make an adequate expression when acting a line - or maybe it's just me, but I don't feel as convincing if I try to keep myself free of facial expression.
Television and feature film are just theatre with the luxury of close-up, retakes and post-production. Which I'm sure Nolan North is aware of, having acted on-camera before.
SOUNDS LIKE A GRIPPING WATCH, I KNOW.
You'd be surprised how often you don't see someone's face in television/film but understand what's happening because of - that's right - body language.
Learn your shit.
Frankly they'd be crazy NOT to cast him as Drake. Cause really, half of Nate's character is in the voice and wit, something that only Nolan North can provide.
I mean really; almost all of the main characters in the game look like their voice acting counterparts. Elena's actor has the same light hair and attitude, and Chloe's actor has black hair (even if she's a little older than the in-game character).
