A 35 year old man, known only as "Jan H.", recently caused a blackout at the Sophia Hospital in the Netherlands because he thought he was in a Silent Hill game.
While no one was seriously hurt during the 45 minute blackout, Jan caused a great disturbance in the hospital. Elevators became stuck and workers had to manually respirate the patients in the intensive care unit.
Later in court, Jan claimed he had suffered a psychotic break in the hospital which led him to believe that shutting down the hospital's power would allow him to acquire a toothbrush that was needed to complete a Silent Hill puzzle.
Jan was found not guilty. The court ruled he had "no idea of the true consequences of his deed," and he will instead recieve psychiatric treatment.
It's things like this that made me want to become a psychiatrist :)

Silent Hill IS real, doesn't anyone realize that?
Its a conspiracy I tells ya
Though technically he knew it wasn't the game's fault. It was his mental disorder. So at least the reports weren't trying to make it sound like Silent Hill was the problem.
Except for Silent Hill: Homecoming that takes place smack dab in "not Silent Hill"
Guess he chose the right game to get warped into though. The toothbrush was very interesting too. I wonder if this man has had problems with his teeth. The toothbrush could represent his regret for poor hygiene. If thats the case, he really is a case.
