Neoseeker goes all Hollywood on ya this week with its impressions of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie trailer in a sneak peek.

More than that, there's mention of a new Prince of Persia game.

The preview was short but powerful. We caught two runs of the trailer; what stood out was the movies that inspired the game easily transitioned back onto the big screen. Feeling a mash-up of Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Pirates movies, the execution plays right into the expectations of a blockbuster summer movie, pushing effects and over-the-top action sequences in exotic locations in every sequence shown. From what we saw the "rewind" feature functioned well in the movie.

I'm looking forward to this movie. Anticipating the time travel.

I'm not too psyched for the movie but I do want to see it. I'll get it on Blu-Ray.

The game on the other hand has me really excited. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the new PoP style. Gorgeous graphics (I spent half the time just gawking at the environment), solid storyline, a female character who isn't stupid, incredible soundtrack, and a combat system that, while simple, had quite a depth if explored. One of my top 3 games of 2008. Here's hoping they stick with the new style and don't return to the darker, insanely difficult style PoP.

Agreed. I'd absolutely love a similar game to the last one.
I would really like the QTE combat gone though.
An SoT-style combat system but cel-shaded...so cool!

They can tweak the combat, yeah, but don't make it overly difficult as WW. I mean, the first trilogy I really liked. Awesome games. But I enjoyed this one a lot. It wasn't one of those games that I'd shout obsceneties at the TV because it was too hard. And it was mainly due to the combat. It was a nice change. My cousin was skeptical when I told him to put this one in becuase he had bought WW a few years back and couldn't beat it. After about 30 minutes he was hooked. Little shit actually stayed up all night playing it. I woke up and he was still on it.

But a newer, updated combat system from the previous would be welcome. Maybe add in a few new options like using the environment in more ways than pinning them against the wall.

I love hard games, but I also enjoy ones like that which put the focus on a fluent experience and story (this was the intention). It's a welcome break and a different kind of experience I enjoy.

I haven't played WW, now I'm tempted to see how hard it is. Can you compare it to SoT?

Warrior Within is a lot darker than SoT, has more weapons and moves, more enemies, but doesn't have much of its charm. The Prince acts emo most of the time.

Two Thrones improved the characterization, but imo, SoT was the best in the trilogy.

I did love it for what it was and what it did to change the series, but I felt the older games were a lot more fun.

    I meant the difficulty.

WW had a lot more enemies that were actually rather smart. It had weapons that you could throw but also break, making weapon management an issue. But the hardest thing about the game was enemies would gang up on you. You'd run into a fight and before you knew it there'd be 5 enemies around all taking swipes at you.

But once you got more powerful weapons and you upgraded your health more the game's enemies did get a little easier. But I won't comment on the challenge playing as Shadow/Dark Prince in this game. A great advantage over your regular powers - you had infinite Sands, yet had a great disadvantage - your health would gradually decrease.

Ah man, I heard about this trailer, I was hoping neo actually had a video. Dammit Chaut, you should have snuck in a camera to the preview.

      Blame Gabe.
I assume cameras weren't allowed, that's why this was a "sneak peek" and not a proper public trailer.

Has a strong 'Scorpion King' thing going on, watched the entire thing waiting for Dwayne Johnson to pop up and give ol' Jake a Rock Bottom, alas it will never be true
