Due to a problematic launch Sony were originally put off the idea of adding the Sky feature to the PS3.

At the moment the PS3 offers the function of enabling users of the console to use the BBC's online iplayer in the UK whilst the service Netflix will debut later this month.

Sky Player, launched this week on the Xbox 360, may come to the PS3, according to Sky.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com, Sky's director of On Demand Griff Parry said: "It [Sky Player on PS3] may very well happen in the future."

The battle lines have been drawn in the war for console-owning TV watchers.

Awesome, It seems like Microsoft maybe starting to lose to the Ps3 as they are really running out of console exclusives for the Xbox 360 and this would be awesome since I would have Virgin Media and Sky

I don't see how losing Sky means Microsoft is starting to lose to the PS3 ; ; I wouldn't call Sky a console exclusive seeing as most homes in the UK have a Sky box anyway.

Though is Sky Player on the 360 free because it's accessed through Xbox Live Gold? As subscription fees for Sky Player are not cheap with a minimum of £15 a month to use the service on the PC if you are not a Sky user. This could be a huge hurdle for the PS3 as very few unless they already have Sky will not be willing to pay £15 a month for the privelage.

Nope. Theirs a monthly fee involved to pay for Sky on a console, if it comes to PS3 i can surely say that there will the same fee implemented on the PS3 as well.

Which is why it has been so hard for 360 to launch this, I assume.
