It's tough to decide whether or not you want to pay for a game, without knowing exactly what you're getting. Evidently, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata agrees; gamers are less likely to gamble their money on game that quite possibly isn't for them.

During the Q&A session at a recent earnings briefing, Iwata told investors that Nintendo would begin a test program, allowing players to demo select WiiWare titles, later this month. Initially, only a few games will be offered, but if all goes well we should expect to see demos be made available for even more WiiWare titles in the future.

According to Iwata, Nintendo is undertaking this test to see if it can get more players shopping on the Wii Shopping Channel. He admitted that the market for WiiWare and DSi Ware is currently small, with the Wii Shopping Channel and DSi Shop browsed only by people who already know the game they want to get.

That's pretty cool. Like PS3, you're going to be able to test a game to see if you want to buy it or not. Good move!

Hopefully it'd be more like 360. Some PSN games don't have demos. All Live arcade games do.

Better late than never though. Should have been there from the start tbh.

Now only if we get the ability to demo actual Wii games for our Wii consoles.

Oh, so close Nintendo, so close.

This isn't to say that I won't at least try this feature out, I see it as a step in the right direction at least.

This is a fantastic feature and definitely moves the Wii up yet another notch. Now give us game demos and we will be as happy as larry.
