AnalogHype's gentlemanly UK fellow, Terence D., shares Gearbox President's opinions on Valve and their views and treatment of the PS3.
Read on to find out what he said and if there is any merit to it.
Valve is a PC developer; creator of Steam (digital distribution service) and the popular Source engine. Their popular games are Half Life, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead 2, Counterstrike all based on the Source engine.
PC gamers love the hell out of them; they're like the Bungie of the 360 I suppose. I'm not too big of a fan; I guess I don't see the appeal.
As for Randy Pitchfork, he's easily becoming one of my favorite guys in the industry, he seems to genuinely enjoy gaming and the industry as a whole. I like the idea that Gearbox has fun with the challenge of developing on the PS3 because its a bit harder.
Valve aren't just great developers producing kick-ass quality titles, they are also dedicated and secluded. You don't see them releasing many games/products a year, and yet they come through with (usually) free DLC and updates...I mean, what more can we ask for?
The only proper reason to not develop for a console is because it would dishonor your famiry, not because a developer wants to stick to PCs. At least that's my opinion.
Valve are possibly one of the best developers at this current time and if people want to bitch and whine because they won't develop for the PS3 then you know what?
Pretty sure they don't support the 360 version of TF2 either, and having to pay for free maps on Live is a joke. Playing on PC really is the best way, no doubt about it.
They do, 360 TF2, whilst not as updated as PC's, have gotten the extra add-ons like the big Sniper/Spy pack. M$ likes to slap on prices though. I agree, the PC is the best option for Valve titles.
