Really not suprising. Places like sainsburys were selling it for a measly £26. I don't even like Call of Duty but I'd buy it for that price.

I went into Walmart today and saw a bunch there. I was quite surprised. So the amount that it has brought in is surprising based off what I saw today, yet not surprising based off how much I hear people yapping about it. And frankly its getting quite old.

It's a pretty damn good game imo, but it's certainly not for everyone. There's a good amount that aren't into the 'realistic' shooter approach of the CoD series, and some just don't like overhyped products.

I never found CoD realistic. Real soldiers don't just get shot, hide behind a barrier for a few seconds and then be at full health. Well, I could go on, but people hate it when people do that.

Its a game Red 9. Give it some leeway.

There's a reason why I did: 'realistic', and not realistic by itself. And I said it was an approach...all in all it's still a game after all, just more based on a more common form of combat than others. But eh, I play on Veteran difficulty, there isn't much hiding behind shit when you get shot there, you're pretty much dead in two shots. But that's another factor see, if it wasn't like that, be at full health again bit...people would be turned off by it, would be too challenging.

Meh. If we all enjoy the game, doesn't matter what you call it.

COD never felt realistic. GRAW on hard is realistic. Hell even KZ2 had more of a realistic 'feel' and that was a sci-fi shooter.

Ok...read above comment please. Have you ever played CoD on Veteran difficulty? Of course on harder difficulties the shooters become more down-to-earth because of how fast you can die, how more alert the enemies are, tc.. What is your definition of realistic anyway? I mean, how can you say a sci-fi shooter is more realistic than CoD...that's...odd.

Because being able to run from area of the map to another in ten seconds isn't realistic. They walk and FEEL like superhuman soldiers. While in GRAW and KZ2 the soldiers feel like they are human. They walk, they move and how fast they aim and shoot their guns feels more realistic. In COD its all twitchy, almost like the soldier is on speed.

Oh, and with GRAW's hardest difficulty its a one hit shot and your dead. So you have to be more strategic and use cover. A system that COD doesn't use very well.

I think Operation: Flashpoint is a perfect example of a realistic military game. Though yeah, Modern Warfare IS the very definition of a mainstream "arcade" shooter. Which is why games like O:F or GRAW weren't nearly as popular as MW.

CoD doesn't have too much cover though, least none that you can react to get to quickly enough. It's pretty much two hits and you're dead on their hardest difficulty. Shotgun is instant kill, so are explosives.

Ten seconds? They run out of steam way before then...unless you're talking about perks, that's a different story. They don't feel like superhuman soldiers, it's just the perks that makes it seem that way, perks for the multiplayer, which I wasn't really talking about. In the standard game, they shoot normal, reload appropriately, each gun is unique. IW always makes sure that their guns have the exact sound as the real-world guns, they usually did test training centers where people fire off the weapons. There's also the recoil factor. And it's impossible to bunny hop in this game...thank goodness.

          Halo is Arcade
Flashpoint is hardcore realistic. Like ARMA, and Americas Army
          CoD is a nice middleground.

And Killzone 2 is like playing a soldier who's clothes are too tight, and he can't move freely.

Hm, well that I can agree with. What apparently makes the difference is CoD's perks system. Ah, I miss the old CoD WWII games. O:F - Dragon Rising is a better example of a realistic shooter.
