The latest issue of Play Magazine has some details on Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, which the magazine got to demo at the Nintendo Media Summit.
Here are some of their thoughts and experiences on the demo.

- First level - You are attacked on a spaceship while meeting with the ship’s captain…action packed

- Play feels motion controls work better than dual joystick

- Super sensitive pointer in “advanced” mode

- Beam stacking ala Super Metroid

- Visor switch: Hold minus and flick Wiimote in certain directions

- Boss fight with Ridley at the end of the first level. Excellent difficulty curve by the time you reach the boss.

- Back tracking in MP3:C makes more sense than in previous Primes

- Extra development time was to give the game more polish. Nintendo wanted “Twilight Princess” levels of polish. Game is focused on Metroid fans and hardcore gamers, but still accessible to newcomers due to controls.

- Second level - floating city focused on exploration

- Larger environments, bloom lighting, better textures than Prime 2

- Corruption Mode not available in demo

- Play says it could be the biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo.

Revolution, my ass. It's not gonna be a revolution when it's an FPS game that's got ZERO multiplayer.

Revolution in control. This game will redefine the way console FPS's are played.

I'd rather they focus on the controls & single player mode for MP3, then release an online-only Metroid later on.

But the Metroid Prime series aren't even real FPS games. Well, they kind of are, but it's mixed with platforming. I didn't even like Halo either.

The Metroid Prime series is really considered a First Person Adventure

Absolutely brilliant, Prime and Echoes blew me away and stands as some of my favourite games of all time. No doubt that Corruption will do the same, if not more. Bring it on!

I'm going to have to agree with guitcb on this one. Halo was so revolutionary not only because of it's tight controls, but because of it's great use of Xbox Live. The community aspect of Halo is what made it so hugely popular, and it's obviously not going to be that way with Halo. Don't get me wrong; Metroid Prime 3 looks great, but I think the lack of multiplayer is going to hurt the game in the long run.

Might have to check it out after this news. Always played the metroid prime's but never really got into the story line all that well.

The first Halo didn't even have online play thus it didn't make great use of Xbox Live or a community aspect. And how is not having a multiplayer going to hurt this game exactly? We know from the last time they tried to put out an online Metroid people were pissed at the fact that the single player blew. When they added multiplayer to Metroid Prime 2 people hated it and players wished they had spent more time perfecting the single player. I'm sorry to say, but neither Retro Studios or Nintendo can make a good Metroid game with good multiplayer too. People need to get around the fact that Metroid is not "Nintendo's Halo" and nor will it ever be. Just because your in space fighting aliens with guns in a first person view doesn't mean it's "(insert random game developer) Halo". Metroid was made for exploration and adventure, not for blowing rivals up with missles and teabagging their dead carcasses.
