Koei's upcoming Fist of the North Star game has been given an official March 2010 release, although no date has been specified. However, it's going to be up against some stiff competition. Also being released in March are God of War III and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Move over Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker! Koei is launching Hokuto Musou (Fist of the North Star Musou) in Japan sometime in March 2010 too.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game takes the Dynasty Warriors formula and mixes it with the Fist of the North Star manga. One story stays true to the series and another unannounced plot will be made for the game.

Fist of the North Star Musou seems to be one of Koei Tecmo’s biggest games and it’s going to be placed against other high profile titles like Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and God of War III. While Koei confirmed plans to release Fist of the North Star Musou in North America, a release window has not been announced. Imagine if Koei shoots for a worldwide March release. That would put this game in competition with Final Fantasy XIII as well. Publishers are really pushing to get their big releases out before the fiscal year ends.

Final Fantasy XIII = Biggest Competitor in March. Followed by God of War, i don't see Peace Walker as being competition, even though it'll be great not many games sell alot on PSP.

Final Fantasy XIII will have already had a 3 month head start on it in Japan since it comes out in two weeks. Unless if they're expecting it to sell like hotcakes for three months straight till Hokuto Musou is released. Even then I'm gonna assume that most of the Japanese would have gotten their hands on FFXIII by February unless if there were major shortages.

I am really looking forward to this... KOEI has vastly improved the system in their Musou games for this one, and will be the first Koei musou game to feature BLOOD! I was worried for a while that Hokuto Musou would be sans blood, but at least in the JPN demo it is there.

Looks like this will be a day 1 import purchase for me on the PS3.
