Although some people are willing to see continual videogaming as character flaw, other people don't agree that it should be classed as a mental illness.

I wonder if these doctors are Ctrl+Alt+Del fans?

Leading doctors have stated that 'videogame addiction' is not to be recognised as a mental illness, or put in the same category as addiction to drugs or alcohol.

I don't feel that video game addiction itself is a mental illness, but it could well be a sign of something like obsessive compulsive disorder, or autism. It could also be a sign of a generally addictive personality, which could point to alcohol or substance abuse.

Video game addiction a mental illness? Don't make laugh. Alcoholism is disease. Playing video games too much means you need to get a life XD

There's a difference between enjoying videogames and playing them until you kill yourself, like some people have.

Which is unfortunate. I'll agree with you, addiction to video games seems like it could be a warning sign for some other type of illness.

I'm sure this is like the fourth article I've seen on Video-games not being an addiction.

A list of similar articles does appear when you submit one, and you can check if there are any duplicates. There was nothing there when I submitted this; either the other guy who submitted didn't notice my link, or our titles were so different that it didn't come up.

I blame the people that have to actually approve them more than I do the submitter.

What difference does that make. Anyone who supports it or has anything to do with it is a joke and blame.

I ment it doesnt matter, anyone involved either its approving it agreeing with it or even writing it is a joke and to be blamed.

Dupes are going to happen. Get over it and get on topic . For the record Deis' article came first.

I'd spend more time fuming about the gaming controversy and so called "experts". Good thing both sides have said "experts" that will swear up and down how their side is the right side.

Thank goodness the doctors had enough sense to know that more research needs to be done in the field.
