...or so it's claimed by analyst Todd Greenwald. Manhunt 2 has been judged more harshly because of Take Two's past with such games as the Grand Theft Auto series and Bully (Canis Canem Edit).

The ban in the UK and Ireland slapped on Take Two's Manhunt 2, and its subsequent AO rating in North America, is a response to the company's previous controversial content, according to one analyst.

I'm still a bit unsure where I stand on this. On the one hand, I absolutely loved the original, I'll be the first to admit, it's shocking and grotesque, and blah. On the other hand, companies have a standard to uphold, so I can definitely see where they are coming from on this.

Is it fair to judge an individual game based on it's predecessors, which aren't actually related to the game in question?

On the other hand, if they keep raising the bar each time, maybe it would be best to stop it now. It's almost like they're seeing how far they can go.

I'd say they've seen how far they can go. I think they will tone it down until their next game, where the push it to the limit again

Dont expect it to be toned down.If they dont sell it in stores. The internet is the best option. And with its much hype now it will sell like hotcakes.

So it's revenge huh? I have to say, These Rating Judges sound more malicious and violent than anything i've done in manhunt.

Just on principle I would rather see it not released at all. Why conform to some of these ridiculous standards of "decency". Just because some angry soccer mom is upset that somewhere in the world some bloke killed another bloke, and they have hypothesized that it was linked to a video game, is no reason to ban entertainment. That is called 1984, or The Giver, and is actually quite dangerous. I am a conservative, and I have full faith in the hands of my government, however it is not the government's job to tell me what I can or cannot watch on TV, or play on my PS2.

We live in a world where movies like Hostel, and Saw make box office millions. Blood and gore is entertainment, this isn't the 40s anymore. Not everyone is like "Leave it to Beaver".

The whole anti-videogames and political correctness movement makes me sick.
