A list of the best weapons in next-gen gaming; everything from the epic lancer in Gears of War to the plasma grenade in Halo: Combat Evolved; check it out and see if your top killing utility made the list.

As anyone who has played Fallout 3 can tell you, war never changes. If there is one question that has been kicked around between gamers on more than one occasion it’s about the items and weapons we see in the video games we play. After all, what could be better than actually getting your hands on the toys we get to watch our favorite video game characters use on a daily basis? The answer of course is having them and there would be few things cooler than having access to a real Lancer, as terrifying to the general population as that would be. But, in the meantime, I’ll keep it brief so I can get on to the weapons and hopefully, it just might make you wonder what exactly your favorite is too.

The Plasma grenade in Halo is just a Grenade that sticks to people. How is that one of the top 10 out of all the other weapons in todays games?

I'm just saying, it's like the equivalent of when PlaystationLifestyle.com posts something; it's commonly based off a lot of bias when it comes from a website specifically directed at one console.

No feeling in any shooter is more satisfying than the feeling you get when you stick someone. You know once that grenade hits their body, they have no chance of survival and only a couple seconds to live. Kind of sadistic, really.

To be honest, I'd probably put any weapon from the Halo series above everything else. Needler, Spartan Laser, Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, Mauler, Gravity Hammer, etc. They're all pretty badass in their own way.

Of course, I would still feel inclined to put in weapons such as the Gravity gun and such; But as for guns from realistic games, none of them really stand out.

Gotta admit, even though I'm not a huge fan of Halo, the multiplayer is still enjoyable and when you stick someone you just think in your head "You got about 2seconds to live!" and laugh at them

yeah, but sticking someone unless youre right next to them just continues to be satisfying every time you do it. when you land a crazy oddball long range stick, you will be so excited. and thanks to Halo 3's theater mode, you can make a video of your awesome stick and send it to your opponent to add insult to injury.

though i always prefer the simple weapons in Halo like AR and Battle Rifle.

did you see the video of the amazing stick on The Pit where the grenade landed in one of the air lift things, bounced around a bit, went off the wall i think and landed on a random enemy? that never gets old.

What a quirky list. A cricket bat makes it on, but the experimental fatman from Fallout 3 that fires 6 nuclear weapons at once doesn't?

Well, I dunno about the list (It was OK), but the MIRV wasn't a practical weapon at all.

First, you actually need multiple Fat man nukes to use the multi-launch feature, for another, unless you aim high, you're more likely to hurt or kill yourself, as your enemy, as occasionally one of the nukes fires at a downwards angle, as you can see in my video below.

      Youtube Vid

If you aim well though, I guess it could be useful on large, powerful enemies. I wouldn't mind taking the MIRV if I had to destroy a colossal boss of some sort. Or if I had to beat a large grouping of enemies (as it has a wide spread, like a shotgun).

The MIRV was indeed fantastic for cleaning out whole towns at once, although I did once panic, forget what weapon I was holding and set it off inside the capitol building. There wasn't enough of me left to fill an eggcup

dont know why the Grav Gun isnt 1st TBH. i really hesitate to call the Portal gun a "weapon" at all. even though you can sort of use it to take out sentry turrets. i guess it would be a pretty sweet weapon if you could use it in Half Life, but only if the level layout allowed you to. i still really consider it a tool more than a weapon. thats almost the same as calling a time machine a weapon.
