It's kinda funny even calling this the HD console era. I mean yeah they do look a lot better than the previous gen but wait till you see all games being output to a native 1080p resolution in the next generation. Just you wait.
Video compression is so easy to see. Does it make a huge difference if it's done well and not too compressed? No. But does it look absolutely phenomenal when it's not compressed at all? Oh hell yeah it does.
Most games in this era are actually rendered in 640p and then upscaled, with the highest quality games being rendered in 720p and smaller independent games with low-polygon graphics (such as the pixel junk games) being native 1080p.

Dude any movie recorded on Film will be 1080p.
I hope these will be the only differences between the two versions,I'll be mad if the PS3 version has content that's not in the 360 version.
Why? Cause you think that Final Fantasy is some sort of Sony franchise. By that logic Nintendo should be the only console getting XIII. Deal with that...
But yeah, go ahead and link me to something where I praise the 360 like that. I'm sorry that I poke fun at Sonybots too much for you to take.
I have little time to search around to prove something obvious; there's no point in it, but please use it as an excuse if you want. It's a little like FFF; you say you're just attacking Sony fanboys, or Ninty fanboys, but where are you when the 360 fanboys come out to play? Hmm?
Didn't think so
It's not like I'm denying I regularly poke fun at Sonybots. I do. Moreso than 360 fanboys, that's for sure. But you'll notice I've never specifically praised the 360 or bashed the PS3 for anything but it's terrible launch. I've been saying for a while now that the PS3 is the much better deal at this point in their lives. I don't need to balance out the sarcasm for people like you. There are people like me that do the same thing I do but ignore PS3 fanboys. I don't hate them at all or think they're worshiping the PS3. I didn't think it was a crime to sympathize more when the fanboy faggorty was aimed at a console YOU own. I don't feel bad leaving a 360 fanboy comment with a silent groan and the knowledge 1,000 other people with flame him to hell.
If doing a Kave En impersonation makes me worship the 360... whatever, that's your interpretation.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much
Also, there are definitely more differences than this, the XBOX360 and PS3 inherently go about rendering in a different way and I'd like to see what these versions end up running. Who's running more AA, texture filtering, etc. Not that it really matters or changes my opinion of the game. The technical side of things is just interesting.
@ZL: You're a moron. Blu-ray discs ALWAYS use some form of compression, whether it's MPEG or AVC or VC1. You'd be able to fit maybe three minutes of uncompressed video on a 50GB Blu-ray disc. Clueless much?
