Transformers: War For Cybertron announced

A new Transformers game has been confirmed, this game will not be tied to any film or cartoon related to Transformers and will be a stand alone game. Much like the Batman game that was released this year. The game will be based around the Cybertron War which is what brought the feud to earth.

There is also a trailer included at the source.

Titled "Transformers: War For Cybertron" and due out next year, the action game details the conflict that eventually brought the Autobot-Decepeticon feud to Earth, with Game Informer writing that "it will not be tied to a specific movie or cartoon."

    Can't say that I'm a fan of Optimus' new futuristic truck design but the trailer's definitely whet my appetite. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the game.

      It's definitely going to be a game to start following as it could finally be a good Transformers game on consoles. Plus you gotta agree Optimus sporting that giant axe and slicing a decepticon in half is freakin awesome.

        Considering that the bar hasn't been set very high by the previous Transformers games, even churning out a decent title would still be appealing (or at least for me).

        Yeah, Optimus seems prety badass. But I hope they bring back a ton of the old-school characters (definitely need to bring Ultra Magnus and Hot Rod back in the mix). The fact that it's being set on Cybertron is really promising.

      Well in the cartoon they were futuristic vehicles to begin with.Bumblebee was a little spaceship if I remember correctly.

        Bumblebee was a Volkswagon Beetle in the original cartoon series. Not very futuristic even for the '80s. =/

          I'm talking about the first episode when they were on Cybertron.They were futuristic on Cybertron.They weren't standard vehicles till they came to Earth.Just like the transformers in Beast Wars weren't animals till they came to Earth.

          Yeah, he was some weird hovercar. Either way, I'm just not a big fan of the design after having grown up seeing Optimus in the classic truck form. It was pretty iconic.

    Pfft Transformers on PS2 was F-ING awesome imo.I don't know how they managed to make the game as good as it was.Seriously Transformers looked so good it looked more like an XBOX game.The gameplay was also awesome fun.

      Too true. Makes me wonder how any developer could screw up after such a good Transformers game was released.

    The teaser was awesome...and the "futuristic truck" makes more sense if this takes place before Optimus got the semi-look when he lands on Earth.

    Still, the "classic" look for the Transformers is kind of cool. Now if only someone could hammer that kind of design concept into the explosion-filled mind of Michael Bay, maybe the third movie will have fight-scenes as cool as the one shown in the trailer for this game.

    Doesn't look half-bad. I liked the first film's game tie-in, was pretty damn amazing in my eyes. Have yet to get the second.D

    Looks cool. Definitely a game to keep my eyes on now.
