In a surprise move at the VGAs, Rocksteady announced that Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 is currently in the works. Mark Hamill also revealed that he will be returning as the voice of the Joker.

Presumably set soon after the first game, a short teaser trailer revealed that Gotham has descended into chaos, crime and rioting gangs have taken over the city, and a rather sick looking Joker has escaped Arkham Asylum with Harley Quinn...

The official promo site arkhamhasmoved.com seems to hint that Two-Face will also be appearing in the game.

o, so this time around, instead of joker bieng in control of arkham, with criminals running amok on arkham island, the joker is in control of gotham, and theres criminals running around gotham.

also didn't whats-his-name say he didn't want to do the jokers voice in another game

Money talks. After the success of Arkham Asylum, Rocksteady's budget probably skyrocketed and thus so did their leverage to keep Mark Hamill. Any voice actor can say no more when they aren't sure if the game/movie is going to be well received.

I'm looking forward to this one, loved the first game, it's nice to see developers making games of heros and not basing it on any films.

I knew this was coming but oh shit yes! Brilliant, does anybody know if this is likely a 2010 release or will it be early 2011? I hope it will be 2010, then that will make it even more amazing.

Also Bandito, he said that Arkham Asylum was his last project as the Joker, but he could have meant it as AA being a series of games, not just the first game.

I'm guessing Hamill either didn't know whether a sequel was going to happen, or didn't think Arkham Asylum would be as big as success that it was.

So frickin' glad he's coming back though. It just wouldn't be the same if someone else voiced Joker.

Agreed. If Hamill didn't voice the Joker in B:AA2, it would be like somebody else playing the Joker in whatever Christopher Nolan's next Batman film is going to be. Just plain weird.

Though in a sense someone else playing the Joker in Nolans next Batman epic can be defended as Ledger died. Hamill hasn't so replacing him wouldn't make sense if he says no increase his pay, he'll soon say yes.

The first was made in shockingly short time; I'm certain they'll get it done for lat 2010.

How do we know this is Mark Hamill as the joker in this next game? I mean he sounded alright I suppose, but it could just have been the trailer and/or a decent sound-alike. Unless I'm missing where it says it's Mark in the source?..........

Anyway, It sounds promising! Though I have to say that unless it's an excellent sound-alike, or Mark himself, I'm not to keen on having joker return

EDIT: Go to the website . . . look at uncle sam closely . . . . Appears that we have ourselves our beloved TWO-FACE appearance! (Or at least Uncle Sam's dual-look is a hint to two-face)

Sorry, I'll add that to the article... Hamill was at the VGAs and revealed he would be returning as the Joker.

And if that ain't a hint at Two-Face, I don't know what is. I'm thrilled he'll be in the sequel. He's my favorite Batman villain.

Add that to how AA ended, and I think we can be all but certain he's in

Pretty awesome trailer. Looks like the Joker's a little worse for ware, I'm guessing from the defeat at the end of Arkham Asylum?

So Hamill said he's retiring from Joker as of the last Arkham Asylum, then he goes and pulls this crap?! Eh, I can't be mad at the guy, though. I just hope Freeze and even Nightwing can be involved in some way.

You mean the utter kicking he got? I think that's a fair bet
Great news, as long as they make this one as carefully as the original AA. I'm hoping for a much bigger world and a game at least twice as long.

It would make sense considering the title for the website "Arkhamhasmoved.com"

This is possibly the best news i've heard this month and the trailer was just the icing on the cake. I can't wait for this game now.

I reckon they might be pushing it for a December 2010 release, I mean it shouldn't be too hard to get it all polished and ready for the end of next year.

Can't wait now and what with the Uncle Sam in the picture above having one half of his body normal and the other half burned could be a Two Face reference! I just hope they fix up the boss fights this time round and it'll be perfect!
