As many fans have suspected after watching the debut trailer, Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 will be set in Gotham City. But if you were concerned that the sequel would be changed into an open-world sandbox game, don't worry. According to the developers, it won't be.

The debut teaser trailer for Arkham Asylum 2 suggests a setting outside of the original's madhouse. According to the programmer extraordinaire though, gamers shouldn't expect an open-world Gotham.

"I think sandbox games that do that well are so hard to realise," Denning told PC Zone. "GTA is obviously a fantastic example of one that gets it right but there are so many that get it wrong and I think you have to be so careful when you take that route.

Big chunks of the city separated by loading screens due to gang wars/natural disasters etc then. Lots of people on the B:AA forum nailed that one

Indeed Which begs the question, have they taken our suggestions? Or were the forumers just that good at coming up with a sequel plot?

I think that was a natural progression after what they did with B:AA, plus stories about Batman's city being riven into sections by lots of different forces are a staple of the comics.

Oh really? I didn't read comics, so I never realized it happened in the comics

Well shucks, I was hoping we were good at coming up with some plots!

A bit off-topic, but, I'd really like to see Batman scaled down a bit, just in his appearance. He was massive and bulky in the game, but, it'd be nicer to see him a little closer to recent films portrayal of him, with a sleek suit and a tad darker looking. Possibly voiced by Christian Bale.. but, that's wishful thinking.

If Bale can lay off the guttural growl he had in the Dark Knight just a bit, maybe I'd agree. But sometimes in that movie he was forcing that growl so much he sounded ridiculous.

I like how he was built in the game. It seems the trend nowadays is a slimmer (almost anime in direction) look. But Batman isn't really supposed to be a small guy.

Also I'd have to disagree with the voice too, and say they need to keep his voice. But this is coming from a fan of batman and someone who was VERY pleased when they had the classic voice actors in the game, and would HATE for them to change it.
