Final Fantasy VIII Headed to NA PSN Soon

It's been a while since Final Fantasy VIII was made available on the Japanese PSN. However, Sony are bringing the re-release to the North American PSN some time in the near future. As seen through the email they sent out to subscribers, the game is listed as "coming soon."

It's Final Fantasy day here today, the latest piece of news concerning Square Enix's flagship franchise coming in the form of a PlayStation Store re-release.

In an email sent out to PlayStation email subscribers, Sony announce in the "coming soon" section that Final Fantasy VIII will be turning up on the PlayStation Store.

I'm interested to see how it holds up after all these years, both because it's my favourite Final Fantasy game, and because last time I played it I remember it holding up much better than Final Fantasy VII does these days.

    Yeah, once I heard it was coming out in Japan it prompted me to put it in again. I hadn't played it in the better part of 6 years so it was very nostalgic for me, and should be for anyone else who hasn't played it in ages (and enjoyed it).

    So I wonder if FFX will eventually get a re-release in some way.

    I'm seriously going to buy a PSP for this, FFVII, Crisis Core, Persona, Phantasy Star Portable 2, Dissidia, and Monster Hunter. No more procrastinating this decision any longer.

    Ugh. I consider 8 to be one of the worst Final Fantasy games ever.

    Locations sucked. Magic-drawing sucked. GF Compatibility sucked. Story sucked.

    I know plenty of people disagree with me though.

      Actually, a lot of people believe that FFVIII was a half-assed game, and I'm not blind, I too notice the game's flaws, especially when people have the constant need to compare it to FFVII.

        If there was a perfect game then we'd all be playing it instead of posting here.. sadly you can't please everyone and we all hold our own opinions

    FFX is my favourite FF followed by VIII.I personally can't FATHOM how anyone could think FFVIII's story sucked.But that's because the story was special to me.I can't explain the reason why I loved it as much as I did though.It's just something that has to be felt to understand.

    Best line in a final fantasy game ever was from FF8, "Where's the Heroine?" -Irving is my favorite lol
