The ESRB strike again, and ban yet another trailer. This time its the trailer for Dark Sector. With accordance with the ruling, the trailers have been pulled from websites. How this will effect the actual game is yet to be seen.

We recently received a ruling from the ESRB stating that the two officially released Dark Sector gameplay montages have been deemed to contain excessive or offensive content; and to this end are not to be available for download or viewing, regardless of being placed behind an age gate. In order to comply with this ruling, the ESRB has requested that the two Dark Sector gameplay montages be pulled immediately upon receipt of this notice and no longer made available for view by consumers.

The ESRB is getting just plain STUPID now. We need to completely scrap the ESRB, and their censorship.

The ESRB really need to get their heads sorted. If they're really worried about minors not seeing it, then they shouldn't be because at the end of the day, even if the kid is banned from seeing any kind of violence up until 17/18, then they're going to see it in the end anyway. Sex... So what, most people will end up doing it for themselves. Violence... So what, people fight and kill all the time. Strong language... Wow, like any kid has ever gone to school and not said *bleep* in front of his mates to look cool. It happens, and a lot of it comes from the parents, so censoring isn't going to make a difference at the end of the day.

If I had a website with the trailer up I would leave it there!

This is just stupid. It should be allowed at least with age gates. Sure, people can lie, but that isn't too different from having someone else buy a M rated title for you if you are too young.

Well taking into consideration they sent me the Email directly (well they sent it to Redemption, who automatically redirects it to me), I wouldn't actually keep it up myself, in case they take some sort of action. Then again, can we even remove it from files.neo *-)

I don't think they should be given this much power.

I mean it's bad enough that they tell us what we can't play, but to tell us that we can't watch things on the Internet? COME ON!

Now, I'm not totally against the ESRB, but I feel Internet censorship is WAY too far.

That being said, anyone got the trailer? Send me a Rapidshare link or something.

for commercial's it's more reasonable. It's open to the public and most of the times the ads hit us before we can consent or not.
As for this case, sure, there's an age gate, but it's actually not a gate. It's just an annoying step in between you and the content that doesn't actually Verify any true age.
Though the ESRB's handling of the case does sound a little too aggressive.

I didn't know the ESRB had the authority to pull media off the internet. Last time I checked, children are on the net at their own risk, since there are plenty of sites that have some pretty mature content.

Something needs to be done with the ESRB. Soon they'll be censoring everything cause they think it's too violent.
