Nintendo will add the original Super Smash Bros. to the Virtual Console today for a price of 1,000 Wii Points ($10). And not only is the classic N64 brawler finally being added to the Virtual Console, it will also be the 500th game added to the Wii Shop Channel.

On the DSiWare side of things, the wild card game Uno and a DSiWare rendition of Dragon's Lair lead the pack.

Hrm, I gave my N64 away a while back so I might bust out my Wii to buy this. First worthwhile game Nintendo has popped out in a while.

I wish Nintendo would have a more consistent Virtual Console catalogue between regions.

NoA has a tendency to release good games on milestones and holiday weeks, as they get more money on holiday weeks and get to squeeze the whine out of fans.

Well hey, we don't have Super Mario Kart or Super Dodge Ball yet, so no complaining.

Does anyone really care about it? Nearly every Nintendo owner (I assume) still owns Melee, which is hundred times better than the original (apart from a nostalgia factor I suppose).

I don't think I will be getting this as it is just a cash-in on Nintendo's part IMO. I'll stick to Brawl and Melee thank you. If they had released it earlier maybe I would be interested.

      I'm sorry....what?

Going by what you wrote, and I apologize if I'm wrong, but you said its just a cash-in?

A game that no one may play unless they have the original N64 cartridge which is rare as hell? And releasing it earlier, how? Nintendo obviously has been doing some good thinking to release a cult classic game that was the start of brawl AND melee during the christmas season so people can purchase it. And its not a bad game, its still the ultimate fighter most of us grew up playing.
