Unfortunately, it's not a physical stick (which might have interesting complications); it's a controller with a joystick and extra buttons for fighting game fun.

Pity there aren't more suitable games on the Wii...

If the swamping of the Wii in mini-game compilations and the adoption of the console by grandmothers and soccer moms had made you think everybody had forgotten about more serious gamers, think again. For example, Hori still loves you hardcore Wii consumers, and has proved it by producing the Wii Fighting Stick, the first of its kind on Nintendo’s new console.

Sporting a sturdy stick and eight oh-so-smashable face buttons, Hori’s creation looks like just the ticket for giving you the edge in those too-close-for-words Street Fighter II scraps on the Virtual Console. Street Fighter aside though, there's perhaps a problem with this otherwise fine-looking device: in terms of actual games, just what is there on the Wii that will currently make good use of it?

Ohhh, button mashing arcade flashbacks... now that's tempting, unlike the recently unveiled Wii Billiards Cue!

The real way to utilize the wii's functions is to attach a punching glove extension to the wii-mote. Then it will strike you for every punch you get dealt in the game. Good social value too, as it will make you think about getting into a real fight in RL next time you're irked

Me too; but no, like I said in my summary, it's a joy stick with buttons.

A kendo stick would be great fun; you could use it in an x-men game if you were being Gambit, or in some martial arts spin off, or as a sword or staff for some kind of RPG. You could have a certain motion attritbuted to each spell or special attack.

Of course, that would be quite dangerous.

I don't like it how they bring in new stuff all the time like this. They should have made all this stuff before releasing the Wii.

Just like the wii cue, I think this is cool too. People are missing the overall picture here that all this tells us is that tons of third parties are getting involved with the Wii.

I guess this would be good for the next tales game, with the linear battle play
