Although the recently released Resonance of Fate demo was positively recieved by many sites, there were some gamers who felt it was too difficult to play.
The game's director Takayuki Suguro has now apologized for the demo's difficulty, explaining that a tutorial mode had to be cut from the demo as they were unable to spend too much time on creating it.
The resent Resonance of Fate (aka End of Eternity) demo offers two modes: Newcomer Mode and Normal Mode. The former is a tutorial sorts, although instead of actually instructing players step by step, it merely adds helper icons and text to the screen.
I personally found Newcomer Mode to be a nice way of assisting players, without interfering with the flow of battle. It seems that other players want a bit more explanation.
In a post at the Resonance of Fate official blog, director Takayuki Suguro responded to player complaints that the demo was tough on newcomers. He admitted this to be the case and apologized.
So why isn't a tutorial in the demo? The reason, explains Suguro, is that demos, like retail products, have to clear an inspection process. The demo was made in parallel with the final version of the game, and they were unable to spend too much effort on it.
