It seems that now their is a virtual world for the paralyzed. They just have to think about walking and they walk in the virtual world. This could be used for gaming in the future and will be a nice addition to shooting games.

"New Scientist Tech has a story about a virtual world that paralyzed patients can explore using their thoughts. The set-up connects a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) to virtual reality so that a person can 'walk' through it, simply by thinking of moving their legs or their left or right hand. Electrodes are attached to their scalp and electroencephalogram (EEG) readings are used to navigate, or control an avatar. The story includes a video of the experiment."

Aww that's good to see, everyone should have the right to play them, and I think a virtual world is way cool. Kudos to the brains behind it all.

That's unusual, but it would be quite interesting to see happen, so good luck to them on that one and nice find, Evanster.

It works for disabled people becuase normally if they think of walking, they Can't walk. But now, there's a virtual place for them to walk. For people who Can walk however, it would be hard to make this work, because we'd be walking both in the virtual world and in actuality too. Our intentions would be sent both to the virtual realm as well as our bodies. For the disabled, even if it is sent to their body, it doesn't register - so the only moving part is in the virtual realm.

What would happen if they start to imagine that they are flying!?

Awesome!! This'll make FPSs a whole lot more fun, if we can use this on games of course.
