Wasn't there a cutscene in the first game where you had the opportunity to kill Wrex? I'm guessing they just took him out of the second game to make it easier on themselves =\.

Your guess is incorrect, he may or may not be in the second game depending on whether you load a saved game of ME1 with Wrex dead or alive. If you start from scratch I'm guessing he'll be alive, he's a great character. That's a very sloppily written article

if you didnt kill him, he might show up somewhere in the game, but he wont be in your party. thats already been confirmed.

there is a part where you can in fact kill or not kill Wrex. that has absolutely nothing to do with him not being in the game though. Ashley and Kaiden are both back and 1 or the other of them are required to die in ME. so that will of course be reflected by the choice you made in the first game. if you havent played the first game, im not sure what they will do as 1 or the other of them has to be dead, so i dont know what Bioware considers canon as to which one is dead.

Ah, good point. I figured they were too lazy to add all the extra dialogue if only a certain percentage of people would have seen it anyways.

They will probably let you choose who comes into the new game if you didn't play the first.

Or a screen comes up and says

"*bleep* off and go play no.1 you cheapo"

If you didn't play the first game it is assumed that you didn't do any side-quests and that anyone who could be killed was, as to avoid confusion if they suddenly re-appear.

No it would only create confusion if they KILLED them in the first game.

If you didn't play the first game you couldn't have killed them obviously.

if you didnt play the first game you wouldnt know about Ashley or Kaiden, so you wouldnt notice their absence if one was gone.

Ahh, Good point. But still it could work the other way too.

It would be a little unfair on people who DO want to play with them who don't own the first to just simple limit them to only one option.

then maybe they could do like they did in KOTOR2 and let you pick who is still alive by use of dialog choices in the first few minutes.

          1. "ive gotta go talk to Ashley.."
          2. "i need to see Kaiden.."

whoever you pick is the one who is alive.
